Peer review #10

I think that peer review is a very important part for a paper because other people can help generate more ideas that can be added to a paper as well as the corrections. I think that the peer review that we do in class is useful because it helps us get to know our class mates and we can have the opinion and help of more than one person, the only down fall that I think we have is the amount of time given. For me I got to read a paper over at least twice just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. As far as peer review my strengths is finding details and correcting grammar errors , my weakness is correcting punctuations because I’m not familiar with all the markings and they should be used. When I start my peer review I first read the paper over once just to know what I’m reading and after that I read it over a second time and highlight or circle any errors. I think working in smaller groups is better because you get the 1 on 1 with the person whose paper your reviewing and that way I can give them suggestions and ideas that may be useful on their part.

Choice in topic #9

As a senior in high school I was very anxious to graduate and go to college. Throughout my time in school the topic of college always came up with every teacher I had and the importance of it. I was always lectured the importance of going to college and the expectations that came with it. Honestly that wasn’t something that I paid attention to but seeing my sister who was a college student, she looked like she was having a lot of fun and really enjoying herself. She would always say that she love that she had the freedom of being able to choose her classes and at the times that she wanted which was very convenient  since we were both working.  So far being in college for a year I enjoy that I can set my own school schedule to my convenience and that the classes are short. The only thing that I didn’t like about college was the amount of the tuition, thank god for financial aid because its very helpful but then again in order to make money you have to spend it. In the end it all pays off because a collge degree opens many doors in life.

Argument Assignment #8

For this essay im choosing the article don’t presume to know a pigs mind. The argument that im choosing to analyze is the advertising strategy that was used in the article about animal abuse. In the beginning of the commercial it shows the pigs and their farmers happy but then as time went by and technology evolved  all the animals were then being processed through a new machine which made the process faster to have the meat. I think that this commercial opened they eyes of many companies by showing the effects. I think that many people do take these commercials very serious because they feel guilty for eating the meat of an animal that was killed in a inhumane process.

Update

This week flew by quickly, Working on the second paper has gotten me ready to continue with writing about different topics and how to better my paper. So far everything is good and looking forward the midterm and whatevers in store for us.

Reflect

looking back to my first blog post i  noticed that  i failed to use alot of grammatical punctuations and i wrote alot. As the blog posts went on i realized i was writng less but also being more specific in less words. So far i feel that i gained more knowledge as far as writing and it will only get better.

Compare and Contrast

Writing the analsys essay to me was very easy because im writing abouut a piece that i agree with and with that i can easily point out my view and how it corresponds to the topic. the lietracy narrative was hard to wright becuase i wasnt familar with thtat writng style but imm sure my analysis paper would be  better.

1.) The purpose of this ad is to show the affiliation of athletes with major shoe trade marks.
2.) This ad attracts the attention of young athletes who play the game and people interested into the sport.
3.) The Genre of this ad is just like any company has a very famous person marketing their product.
4.) The tone of this ad shows the intensity and dedication of the sport. I believe the tone was chosen to attract players to get the product to better themselves and someday accomlish their dream.

Final Draft vs Rough Draft

When writing my final draft, I didn't have much to revise because i didn't have much errors on the rough draft. As far as my peer reviews there were very minor markings and punctuation corrections made and i generated the final draft very easily.

Difference between A & C Paper English 101-7

When writing a paper I think the major three differences between the grade of A & C are sentences structuring, details, and lastly the use of grammar and punctuation.

When your writing your paper sentence structures plays a big part because you don't want to loose your reader by confusing them. An a papers structuring usually has a rising action, falling action, resolution, and theme ext, and they all fall into place were on things leads to the next. A c paper would have most of those points but they will not be in order making the reader confused and stop reading.

Detail on a paper is what captures the readers attention. An a paper will include details as specific as the timing of when something takes places, descriptions of anything mentioned ,and wording that will enable to the reader to paint a picture in their mind. A c paper would lack of detail and just be plain making the paper bland. I know this part is very true because on previous papers that i have wrote i received a c for lack of detail and not being specific on many parts.

Lastly the most important part that affects the grade of a paper is the usage of grammar and the placation of punctuation marks. A a paper will have correct placing of punctuation as far as something as commas, periods, parenthesis, and apostrophes  These are important because they signal your paper when reading it aloud. A c paper would have punctuation placed in the wrong spots and are there for designs rather than importance. Some punctuation are harder to determine on where to be placed you just got to learn how to use them.

For me its easy to write in detail because i make the reader feel as if they were there and its a strong attention grabber and makes the person not want to put the piece of writing down. The hardest one for me is punctuation because i know where to place the common punctuation marks but then there's other marks that im not familiar with and i end up not using them which greatly affects the grade.

Blog Update101-7

This week of class went very good and quickly. Working on writing the first major essay of the class got me prepared of whats expected for the rest of the course. I met a few new people and so far everything is going great.

NEIU Writing I Assignment 2 101-7 Topic Ideas

The first possible topic I may be writing about is the consequences that I had to suffer for breaking school rules. I can remember many occasions in which I had punishments given to me the I felt were very heinous. As I look back at the mistakes I did some would consider them to be expected of a kid to do, on the other hand you have the more strict cold blooded person that will do anything in their power to torture you. As a kid experimenting is a full time job and something I feel that nobody should get punished for.

My second choice of topic is a life changing experience that I had. Growing up you start to realize that you have to set goals for yourself and over come many obstacles to succeed. As a high school student you try to make the day fly by because all you want to do is get in and out, homework and tests were on the bottom of your priority list and hanging out was on the top. I realized the mistake that I had made when it was time to take my college entrance exams and only had two weeks to prepare for it. If it wasn't for my sister who helped tutor me and show me the importance of this exam, I would have never been able to accomplish my goal.

Lastly, I might right about one of life's lesson which is karma. Honestly I never thought it really existed until the day that karma took its effect on me. In my situation I never meant to hurt anybody or anything it was just an at the moment typical human reaction. If it wasn't for this day I would be one of  the many people who would contradict the fact of its existence, in a way  im glad that I experienced it at a early stage in life because im able to look back at  the different situations ive been in.

Wuzgoin on everybody I'm Will. I'm taking this class because I want to improve they way I write papers. Most people that take this class need it because its required, in my case its true but at the same time I wanna take advantage of all the topics that were going to cover to help me progress my wring skills. English is not my favorite subject because I didn't do that great in my other English courses but I can honestly say my writing has improved from previous years.
